IF you have a GC21SN for a 21" walk behind Snapper go to : GCSN21 instructions If you have an older Commercial Snapper deck you will need to make a very minor modification. On the mouth opening where you see the baffle sticking out, you will need to grind off that baffle to make the catcher lay correctly on the opening. This is due to a change Snapper made in their mower decks. Please give us a call and we will explain this in more detail for you. This catcher is intended for use by professional landscape personnel who have been trained in proper safety techniques and are physically capable of lifting heavy objects. Installation: Step 1: Look at the discharge area of your mower. You will see a steel lip along the top of the discharge opening. ( it is a piece of flat stock welded perpendicular to the top of the mower just above the discharge area.) You need to make a 5/8 inch hole in this lip. To find the correct placement for the hole, place the catcher against the the mower and slide it back and forth until it matches up to the deck. Place a mark on the mower where the stainless steel pin from the catcher touches the top of the lip. Step 2: Center punch and drill a 5/8 inch hole 3/4 inches below the top of the lip. Use the mark from step one to determine the horizontal placement of the hole. (for the 36 surfer drill a 1/2 inch hole at the front of the lip leaving at least 1/8 of metal above the hole). On the Snapper models, there may be a pre drilled hole at the front of the lip. The catcher may not be far enough forward for the pre drilled hole to work. If not, drill one further forward on the lip. Step 3: Attach the catcher using the hole from step 2. Step 4: Make sure the catcher is flush with the bottom of the mower at the front edge. If the catcher is riding too high you can grind a small groove into the lip of the mower where the angle bar from the catcher hooks over. If you need technical assistance please call us.
Installation for Great Dane mowers without a steel lip along the edge of the mower (above the discharge chute): On many of the newer Great Dane mowers the discharge area has been changed. They have removed the steel lip that we have used as an attachment point for the catcher. The bracket that comes with the catcher serves to replace the lip on the edge of the mower. If your mower has the steel lip on the edge, you won’t need to install the bracket (there would be no place to install it as the lip on the mower would be in the way). To place the bracket properly, take the catcher out of the box, keeping the bracket on the catcher (it is attached with a zip tie). Place the catcher against the mower with the bracket on top of the mower deck. Slide the whole assembly forward until the rear of the catcher fits snug against the mower. Mark the bracket placement with a sharpie. Put the catcher on the ground and cut the zip tie. Place the bracket back at your mark (it should be flush with the edge of the deck). Clamp the bracket to the mower, drill 2 holes (5/16, at least 4 inches apart), and bolt the bracket down. Remember, if the bracket obstructs the deflector shield, you will need to remove it to mow safely without the catcher. Please the General Instructions for my information about installation and use of your catcher.

Tips for cleaning and maximum bag life: Clean bag out at the end of each work day (especially if you have been mowing wet grass). The bag will clean easily with a hose or an air compressor. Be sure to wear eye protection especially if you are cleaning the bag with an air gun or hose. Do not put your hands inside the catcher- there are some surfaces that can cause abrasions or cuts. Never use excessive pressure or force when cleaning the bag as this may damage the bag and/or injure you. |
